2008 into 2009: Evile

What was your highlight of 2008?
M: Having a whisky with Dave Mustaine.
O: It’s a mixture of two. Touring Europe with Megadeth was a dream come true – great guys and great band – but also the tour with Exodus. We’ve had so much fun in 2008.

What was the worst thing that happened to you in 2008?
M: Having to drop off the Satyricon tour due to my brothers jaw trying to have sex with a concrete floor.
O: In Rotterdam, I collapsed and fractured my jaw and split my chin open, forcing us to cancel the Satyricon tour. SHIT. You win again, Gravity. For the band, it was missing Hellfest. We were so unbelievably gutted we couldn’t make it due to problems at the ferry port. We seriously hope they’ll have us back to make up for it.

Is frontman, Satyr actually just a black metal (and as such, an even angrier) Josh Homme?

It’s exciting to see that the most progressive genre around right now is also, by far, the least accessible and the one most people will quite rightly refer to as “scary”. Norwegian stalwarts Satyricon have always looked to further themselves by leading the black metal scene.
