What’s going on metalheads? The past month has been full of shows in Atlanta. Now my wallet is empty, and there is more PBR in my body than water.  This month started out with the awesome Summer Slaughter tour at The Masquerade in Atlanta.  The tour lineup was insane, with bands like Necrophagist, Suffocation, Dying Fetus, Origin, and Beneath The Massacre destroying the stage.

Interview: Suicide Silence: “Every night is full of violence”

September 23rd, 2008

EDITOR’S NOTE: This interview was originally published on MusicTowers.com. It is re-printed here with their full permission.

Mitch Lucker’s leg is jiggling. Vocalist with rising Californian deathcore stars, Suicide Silence, Lucker is sitting on a small sofa backstage at the Islington Academy – well, below stage actually, the bowels of the building constituting the dressing room area – about an hour before his band takes the stage to headline the Summer Slaughter tour. The vocalist is visably agitated about something.

“I stress over everything,” he reveals. “I’m a germaphobe, I count things compulsively, I over-think things constantly. The less that’s in here,” he says, tapping the side of his head, “the less I have to stress about.”

Bullet For My Valentine

The enormous autumn metal tours have started rolling in. This week we’ve heard news about a couple of consortiums making their way across the Atlantic – one rather massive and one not so – as well as a couple of other big hitters hitting the UK from not quite as far away.

The hot ticket this autumn will be the painfully metal Unholy Alliance. 2006’s European leg had Slayer, In Flames, Lamb of God, Children of Bodom and Thine Eyes Bleed making your ears implode.

This year’s thrash-fest will see Slayer joined by co-headliners Trivium with prog-metal masters Mastodon as the first announced special guests. The final support act is to be confirmed shortly.
