Valentine’s Day 2010: a show worth dumping your girlfriend for

January 18th, 2010

Valentine’s Day – some see it as a day for love, and a night best spent in the arms of your truly beloved. Others spend it sneering at everyone that over-spent on novelty tat for their boy/girlfriends, and then spend the evening in the pub laughing at all the couples bickering and fighting on the streets. For Thrash Hits it is neither – Valentine’s Day is the day we’re going to go throw the fuck down to The Ghost Of A Thousand in Camden Town.

For those of you lucky enought to live alongside Thrash Hits in London town, tonight sees the launch of Someone’s Yelling Fire, a new punk/hardcore/metal/screamo/emo night at the recently-reopened Highbury Garage. Get there early enough and you’ll be able to catch live sets from The Xcerts, Save Your Breath and Flood of Red. Get their later, and you get to see Thrash Hits staffers collapse at the bar following an excess of beers. Double trouble! And just a fiver to boot.

We hate to be the bearer of bad news. Due to an unforseen and urgent family matter, The Ghost OF A Thousand have been forced to cancel their headlining slot on the Redbull Bedroom Jam Stage on the Saturday night of this year’s Download Festival. And to make matters even more depressing, if you were hoping of catching the Brighton five-piece at the Alexisonfire show at The Borderline in London tonight, then you’re also in for some diasppointment – the band have had to cancel their support slot there too.
