Top 6: Under-appreciated Nine Inch Nails songs

May 15th, 2014

Nine Inch Nails live at Reading Thrash Hits

If you’re a Nine Inch Nails fan, chances are you’re pretty damn excited for the UK leg of the band’s European tour that kicks off later this week. It’s been a long, long, long while since Trent Reznor and his gang of (un)merry men brought Nine Inch Nails’ brand of barrier-breaking, genre-mocking, soul-eating music to the UK, and they’re doing it this time in the biggest indoor venues we’ve got. Whatever you think of Reznor’s music, that’s a mighty damn impressive state of a affairs for a man who makes some of the darkest music on the planet.

While we could take a peek at what songs they’ve been playing around Europe, there’s something to be said about keeping yourself in the dark about a band’s setlist, which is why we asked fellow NIN fan Daniel Cairns to put together a little preview piece for us in the form of…

The Dillinger Escape Plan are coming back to London in April – and maybe a whole UK tour to boot

February 13th, 2012

They might’ve only just finished touring the UK in support of Mastodon, but it seems The Dillinger Escape Plan already look set to be making a return to our shores sooner rather than later. We’ve just spied this date – 26 April 2012 – as a scheduled Dillinger Escape Plan show over on The Highbury Garage’s website, even though there’s not been an official announcement anywhere else yet.

Tickets go on sale on 15 February, i.e., on Wednesday. You better believe we’re going to be at the head of queue. We’ll have more dates and details for you when we get ’em. Although thinking about other bands’ album release schedules, it’d make sense (and be a frickin’ KILLER line-up) if this turned out to be a dual-headliner jaunt with either Cancer Bats or Every Time I Die as opposed to just a Groezrock warm-up show….

Vintage Video: Rammstein – Sonne

November 23rd, 2011

Once upon a time, a German industrial legends Rammstein worked as coal miners. After a good spanking from a giant Snow White, they brushed her hair and gave her a bath. Snow White took her own life and the loyal miners braved snow and cold to give her a funeral befitting a woman of her beauty and stature. Suddenly, and apple fell from a tree landing in Snow White’s dead hand… but she caught it! How could that be?

February 28th, 2011

What is the one thing that you took away with you from your last tour with Rotten Sound and how will that help you this time round?
“More than anything, we were able to have the opportunity to share a tour with one of the best grind bands in history. To go on that tour right after Cycles had come out was incredible. Watching them tear every crowd a new asshole night after night for an hour was quite mind blowing. I have nothing but amazing words to describe Rotten Sound as a band and as individuals. I’m just excited to go back over to Europe and watch them for another twenty-something days in a row.”

It’s great to see Europe have grown from strength to strength since reforming in 2003. What has been your highlight so far from the ‘Last Look At Eden’ tour?

“Well Last Look At Eden has been one of those albums that’s connected well with so many people and we’ve done about 100 shows now. There’s been so many but the Sonisphere and iTunes Festivals were both very special for us because we grew up listening to a lot of British music. Touring here is always amazing and there’s a strong connection whenever we play in the UK, so we are coming back for the ‘Balls N Banners’ tour and hopefully again in 2012.”
