Vice’s ‘No Sleep Till…’ series comes to a close with Trash Talk risking life and limb on frozen roads and skateboarding. Obviously.

March 22nd, 2012

Vice’s No Sleep Till… documentary series comes to an end today, with the final instalment focussing on one of California’s finest international punk exports of the last five years: Trash Talk. Vice follow the band as they support Every Time I Die on their last UK tour, which obvious means a) carnage, and b) destruction, and c) skateboarding.

Vice Vans No Sleep Till The Bronx Thrash Hits

This afternoon we would like you to ask yourself just one question – what could you possibly be doing that is so important that you can’t take ten minutes out of your life to watch Vice’s film of The Bronx sweating themselves silly in a Swedish sauna, throwing caution to the wind and frolicking in the freezing Baltic, and then playing some music for some rabidly enthusiastic Scandinavians?

Vice Vans No Sleep Till Cerebral Ballzy Thrash Hits

It’s Friday afternoon. You’re not doing any work. As soon as your boss leaves the room, you’re dicking about on the internet, sending flirty and suggestive emails to the girl in accounts, and generally doing anything and everything you can think of that isn’t actually the job you’re supposed to be doing. We know this because you’re reading our website right now, and unless you have the super-cool kind of occupation where slacking and reading Thrash Hits is part of your job description, well, you’re probably skiving off something to read this.

So why not make better use of your skiving and watch the first episode of Vice’s ‘No Sleep Til…’ series, where they follow Cerebral Ballzy to Moscow?

Noisey Steve Ignorant Crass YouTube Thrash Hits

Another day, another YouTube channel demanding your attention, right? Well, no, in this case – Noisey, the Vice Magazine online-offshoot that’s entirely music-orientated – launched their own YouTube channel this week, and it’s already got a hell of a lot more going for it than a million other YouTube music channels where people endlessly interview rock stars about any old nonsense they thought up in the five minutes before they switched their camera on.

HAIL SATAN! It’s the Church of Heavy Metal. Or real life, depending on how you look at it

September 1st, 2010

slayer graffiti shoreditch tabernacle church thrash hits

It was in January 2010 that Vice ran around east London spray-painting that clearly-quite-imitable Slayer logo all over the place. The one that really stood out at the time was this one on Shoreditch Tabernacle Baptist Church. Metal is bad. Religion is good. That’s the juxtaposition. Right? Well, this week, even a Manchester reverend was extolling the virtues of Heavy Metal.

No band better embodies the spirit of metal than Iraq’s Acrassicauda. They had their rehearsal studio bombed, their lives were threatened because of their music and they had to flee their country and become refugees. After surviving life under Saddam Hussein, invasions, insurgencies and even an airstrike on their instruments, they finally got to safety in America, and have now released their first professionally-recorded EP.
