You may know about our love/obsession with most things Icelandic so it may not be a surprise to see a new band from Reykjavik featured here. This is MUCK, they play intelligent, discordant hardcore and it’s fantastic.

Ahh, it’s like an early Christmas gift! We’ve made no secret how much we’re fanboys for Raging Speedhorn. We’ve gone on about them so much that they sent us a little video message before they head out on their first UK tour in damn-near nearly a decade kicks off next week. The whole bloody band pipes up to discuss their comeback, their upcoming tour, and – BEST OF ALL – some details about the brand new music coming from the band in 2015.
Yes, WE ARE VERY EXCITED.

When we went to Download Festival 2014, we had planned on asking all the bands what they would do if Linkin Park ratted them out to the cops (not sure what we’re talking about? Here’s a link to Sublime With Rome’s version of what happened when they played a festival with Chester Bennington and co at a festival in the USA). However, we got distracted by drinking booze and watching bands and only did a handful. The best of our videos – by far – was when we caught up with our old friends CJ McMahon and Lee Stanton from mighty Australian deathcore monsters Thy Art Is Murder what they would do if Linkin Park grassed them up to the fuzz.

The new album from Carcass, the mighty Surgical Steel, is officially out this week. To mark the occasion, the guys over at Nuclear Blast have bunged us an exclusive interview clip of Jeff Walker and Bill Steer talking about what it was like to get Ken Own, the original drummer of Carcass, in to the studio to record some backing tracks for the album. FYI, newcomers, back in 1999, Ken Owen suffered from a brain haemorrhage that forced him to spent ten months in hospital, and pretty much forced him to stop drumming.

Thrash Hits verdict: With influences ranging all the way from stalwarts, Smashing Pumpkins and Alice In Chains to the female touch of Hole and Babes in Toyland to the noise rock of Metz and Part Chimp, it’s clear that Aeroplane Flies High enjoy music along the grunge spectrum. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course. Having formed in 2009, the current line-up met at a Melvins gig and slowly but surely, they seem to be gathering pace. Translating their love for the American Big Fuzz guitar sound of the ’90s into big fat northwestern riffs and adding some smart lyrics, AFH could well be onto something.

There’s still very little news regarding the forthcoming new Limp Bizkit album. What we do know is that Stampede of the Disco Elephants is being released on Cash Money records, produced by Ross Robinson and lead single ‘Ready To Go’ features a cameo from Lil Wayne who features in the brand new video. With this in mind, let’s ponder who else from Lil Wayne’s YMCMB family could make an appearance on the album…

We stumbled upon a crappy rip of this inspiring video a friend had shared on Facebook. A couple of hopeful adolescent metalheads who have grown up against the musical grain of their New York neighbourhood were telling their story, but we just knew there was more to it. Lo and behold, a couple of searches later, we found the original high quality Vimeo page. From there we found the original post on The Avant Garde Diaries.

Wolves Like Us are absolutely one of our favourite bands to have come out of Norway over the past few years. We loved their 2011 album, Late Love very much and along with Kvelertak and Blood Command, the Oslo quartet have shown us where the excellent heavy music is coming from. We’re very pleased to be debuting the video to their brand new song, ‘Get Gone’.

Tom Morello is 49 years old today. Well done, Tom! Please stop playing as The Nightwatchman and get back together with Zack and the boys to make a new Rage Against The Machine album before it’s too late, yeah?
Thrash Hits TV: Children of Bodom’s Alexi Laiho & Henkka Seppälä pick their favourite tracks from Halo Of Blood
May 29th, 2013
Those Finnish widdlers of all things guitar, Children of Bodom, have a new studio album coming out next month. It’s their eighth LP. Eighth! It’s called Halo Of Blood, and they’re pretty damn pleased with it. So much so that they sent us a video of frontman/guitarist Alexi Laiho and bassist/backing vocalist Henkka Seppälä telling us what their favourite individual tracks from the album are.
