Glamour Of The Kill

Once upon a time (well, 2007) there were a lot of people tipping Yorkshire’s Glamour Of The Kill for big things. In a world where the likes of Trivium, Bullet For My Valentine and Avenged Sevenfold were all being championed as the shining beacons that would lead metal into a brighter tomorrow, GOTK could have become the missing part in a whole new Big Four. Alas, that didn’t happen and while they’ve kept plugging away their following has remained modest to say the least. Yet in a world where the aforementioned BFMV are global straddling superstars and A7X have recently scored a UK number one album surely winning over new fans should now be a piece of cake for GOTK, right?

Thrash Hits verdict: People often claim that we’re elitist dickbags here at Thrash Hits. That’s kind of true – after all, life’s too short to listen to average music, let alone bad music. If being “elitish dickbags” means we listen to less bad and average music, so much the better. However, we are trying to cover all sides of the heavy music spectrum here at Thrash Hits, so when someone dropped us an email about rising UK metalcore types, With One Last Breath, we took it upon ourselves to look past their range of youthful fringes and colourful t-shirt collections and actually listen to their music. And you know what? Even us elitist dickbags need to lighten up every now and again.

Album: Glamour Of The Kill – The Summoning

Glamour Of The Kill
The Summoning
Afflicted Music
23 January 2011

by Andy Parker

We’re only into the second month of the year and I already have a list of things that’ve really gotten on my tits in 2011:

  • That agonising wait between December’s and January’s pay cheque.
  • Big Fat Gypsy Weddings, because all my friends think it is amazing and I don’t get it and that makes me feel uncomfortable and oddly middle-class.
  • Vocalists who cannot shut the fuck up and have to harmonise when they have nothing better to do.

Which is where Glamour Of The Kill come in. A band who, for the last few years, have been tightening their trousers, dying the shit out of their Toni & Guy coiffed hair-dos, and being pushed around the press to seemingly little or no avail.
